The Walking Dead Episode 2 gets a release date

Episode 2 Out of nowhere, Telltale has finally given a release date for The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved For Help.  Xbox 360 owners gets first dibs on the second episode while PS3 and PC owners will have to wait until Friday(June 29). If you don't plan on playing it on a 360, I suggest you avoid Youtube or any live streaming sites until then.

I had a blast with the first episode and it a great start for Telltale's five part game series. Episode 1 had quite a lot of heavy decisions that is said to shape your game's story as you go through each episode, so can't wait. Each episode will cost $5, if you still don't own Episode 1 but plan on getting the game, I suggest you opt for the bundle that gives you access to all five episodes when released. it will cost $20 right on the spot but it does save you $5.

Check out the trailer for episode 2 below. SPOILER BELOW!

Collector's Edition for Resident Evil 6 announced for Europe

RE 6 Capcom just announced the Collector's Edition for Resident Evil 6 for Europe. What about the rest of the world you say? No word yet, but hopefully this package is available worldwide because any Resident Evil fan would love the contents. Here's what you get in Resident Evil 6's Collector's Edition.

  • Resident Evil 6 Game
  • Zombie Steel Book
  • Exclusive RE6 hardback artbook showing concept art from the game
  • Resident Evil 6 Avatar DLC code for 360 owners OR a Resident Evil 6 Dynamic Theme for PS3 owners
  • Ivy University, Tall Oaks hooded sweatshirt (one size)
  • ‘The Resident Evil 6 forces emblems’ – High quality enamelled zinc alloy emblems of the three main protagonists squad insignias, mounted and set in a limited numbered frame authenticated with signatures from Senior producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi , Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Resident Evil 6 Director Eiichiro Sasaki.  A must have piece for any fan of Resident Evil.
  • All of the above amazing goodies are bundled together in the lenticular ‘Needle Bomb’ collectors box

Man, I'd take the sweatshirt any day. Then again, I do live in a tropical country so that's a bad idea.

Resident Evil 6 Anthology and Archives

There is also a Resident Evil Anthology spotted in the wild. Amazon is again advertising products not officially announced by the company providing them. For the PS3 version of the bundle, it will include: Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Director's Cut, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition and Resident 4 HD.

Since Xbox doesn't have the first three games, the Xbox 360 version will include: Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, Resident Evil 4 HD, Code Veronica HD, and a copy of CGI film Resident Evil Degeneration.

So what's better the Collector's Edition or the Resident Evil Archives? I'd go for the Archives, if it ever gets officially announced. Archives will go for 89.99 and that's a lot of Resident Evil games for that price, not to mention you get the new one too. The Collector's Edition has yet to be priced.

A bigger and possibly better 3DS has been announced by Nintendo

Nintendo 3DS XL If you were planning to get a 3DS, I suggest you wait a few months. During Nintendo's direct video, the company announced a new 3DS that's literally a bigger version of the handheld. What you're getting out of this new 3DS is a bigger top screen and bottom screen. That and longer battery life. In Japan, the new 3DS will be called the Nintendo 3DS LL, but when it gets released in North America and other parts of the world, Nintendo XL. Yea, have no idea why they could have called it XL for both.

3DS comparison

The bigger screens are said to be 90% larger than the old 3DS. The top screen will be 4.88 inches while the bottom screen will be at 4.18 inches. An adapter sadly will not be included because they say it is compatible with the 3DS and DSi XL adapter. Still Nintendo, assume people who haven't bought your hardware exist please.

Japan gets first dibs as usual. The Nintendo 3DS LL/XL will be available in Japan on July 28 for ¥18,900 (PHP10,006.23). For the North American release of the 3DS LL/XL, it has also been announced and will be available on August 19 for $199.99 (PHP 8199.59).

Does a bigger screen and longer battery life a strong enough incentive to get a new piece of hardware? The Nintendo DSi XL did do well. All I thought about when I heard about the announcement is that turning on the 3D will definitely strain your eyes faster thus not having battery life issues since I'll actually stop using the device, and making the screen bigger might just give me a headache. Just my two cents.

Someone has finished Diablo 3 on Inferno Difficulty with a Hardcore Barbarian

Diablo 3 This is world first people. After nearly 5 weeks since the game's release, a Diablo 3 player named Kripparian is the first to beat the game on Inferno Difficulty with a  Hardcore character. What's Hardcore? It means that if you die once in the game, your character is gone forever. All your items, all your money, and all your time goes away with one single mistake... or even lag. It has been done and it is really no easy feat.

Diablo 3's Community Manager Bashiok has confirmed that this kill is indeed the first in the world.

With the help with his buddy Krippi, they took the hardest boss(Diablo) down and not even with the best gear in the game. It wasn't a perfect record though. Both players have lost level 60 characters in order to reach this goal, making this an even bigger accomplishment. Why? Because after losing their characters, they were forced to re-level and gear up their new characters all over again, which takes time. With a couple of deaths slowing them down, they still manage to do it in less than 5 weeks. Kripparian and Krippi have been live streaming their Diablo 3 gameplay since launch and I actually saw the kill live when it happened.

The world first was also done hours before Blizzard implemented the 1.0.3 patch that pretty much made the hardest difficulty easier for players. Another reason why this is such an amazing achievement. Don't go hating on Blizzard for making the game easy, since we now have a world first. These guys literally played almost everyday since release.

Congrats to Kripp and Krippi for the kill.

20-minutes of Dead Space 3 gameplay makes me worried for the Dead Space franchise

Dead Space 3 was announced at this year's E3 and yes its official - The game has drop-in drop-out co-op. The last game had competitive multiplayer which was ok since it was separated from the singe player campaign. But this time coop mode replaces multiplayer, and is part of the whole campaign, which I don't like one bit. Its the same game yes, but the changes added into the third installment questions the game's ability to deliver what we want out of Dead Space, and that is the thrill of getting freaked out by necromorphs. The fear of running out of ammo and literally making Isaac run for his life. This game is a survival horror, and the changes actually questions that. Sure, they say you can still play the game solo, but they stated that playing the game in co-op will unlock "additional story details and gameplay mechanics" only found when playing with a friend. That said - The full experience of the campaign is actually in coop. I would have been fine with Dead Space 3 being the same game but with maybe added features. We've seen it before with other games, but did they really need to add an extra mode? To make it sell better, sadly yes, which is why I think the Dead Space franchise could be hitting a brick wall with these kinds of decisions.

Maybe I'm overreacting with how Visceral Studios is presenting the game, but the final nail in the coffin was the fact that you can take cover and engaged in a firefight with actual humans. Not only am I questioning if this is still a Survival Horror game, I'm also wondering if its even the same game.  This is the first time in the series that we see not-so infected humans wanting Isaac dead. After killing Necromorphs over and over again in the first two games, adding human enemies in the third really looks off to me. Even the game's levels seem more open giving Dead Space 3 a completely different feel.

Dead Space 3 is planned for next year for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
