River City Ransom 2 in the works
One of the all-time classics, especially in the beat-em-up genre, River City Ransom is getting a long belated sequel. 20 years in the making, River City Ransom 2 is being developed by Miracle Kidz, the studio which houses most of the original’s developers. The game is expected to release on console sometime this summer in Japan, with a PC release coming next year. No word yet on any game details or specific consoles, but another of Miracle Kidz retro-style games (Downtown Smash Dodgeball) is on the Xbox Live Arcade and Wii Ware, leading most to believe such platforms are equally likely for River City Ransom 2.

Jazz Plus Gunboots
Videos games and music these days make and art form when done right. The right music in the right moments of a game add greatly to the emmersion and over all effect to the events playing out. Many tunes from RPGs, fighting games and countless other game genres have been burned into our brain and we giggle like little school girls and totally geek out when we hear someone use the victory theme from Final Fantasy VII or the codec ring from Metal Gear Solid as their message tone.
Who ever thought Jazzy tunes could go well with a highly violent and very stylized action game such as Bayonetta? After hearing "Myterious Destiny" play out for the first time in game when a group of angels appeared seemed perfect. As I slaughtered the baddies with my boot guns and older woman sexyness with that upbeat jazz playing, it was pure gaming bliss.
It just goes to show that any genre of music can go with any type of game as long as its executed in such a way that it just clicks when you hear it.
I heard it took a hundred man hours for the guys at Platinum Games to sculpt Bayonetta's ass.

Kinect hacked to work with PlayStation 3, plays Killzone 3 badly
Microsoft's Kinect, the fastest-selling gadget ever, has now been hacked to work with the PlayStation 3.
The Kinect isn't directly plugged into a PS3, though (that would be too awesome). Instead, it's plugged into a conventional PC laptop, where PrimeSense's first-party drivers are used to interface with Kinect. The data from Kinect is then converted into a format that the PS3 can understand, and output directly to the console using using diyps3controller, which lets the laptop USB controller interface with the PS3.
There's a video of the developer logging in and playing Killzone 3 on his PS3 using the Kinect after the break. Well, attempting to play Killzon 3, we should say. It seems like the hack has a little way to go before it's actually usable...

It's Official
S#17 just got real. This, my friends, is now officially Mortal Kombat. Dan "Toasty" Forden makes an apperance again as an easter egg in the game and shouts "Toasty!" in a falsetto.
I haven't seen this easter egg since MK 3 or 4 but it was very memorable for the few times we got it to work back in the day (I'm not a very good MK player).
