Final Fantasy A+

Since I'm in a very Final Fantasy-ish mood with me playing Duodecim and all, I remembered this one flash animation I saw a few years back. Its obviously inspired by the older 2D Final Fantasy from the NES and SNES era, more so from FFV (music wise) but with a school life twist.

The author Mousekliks said that he made this flash movie for his Japanese class in Highschool. All the voice dubs were done by him. I really enjoyed watching this flash movie bakc when I first came across it and still enjoyed watching it again after all this time.

Author description from Newgrounds:

I submitted this as my final in high school for Japanese, so all the voices are done by me. To all you native speakers - please excuse my awkward intonations. :)

Music from FFV and FFT, sound effects from various Genesis games.

P.S - Sorry, I don't intend to make this into a series. I'd rather not continue something I feel is complete.

Also, for those of you interested, Pensuke's victory cheer is "Yahho, watashi wa kattaze~!"

FAQ's:

1) What grade did you get for this?

- I recieved maximum credit for the final and aced the class.

2) How long did this take you?

- The project took about 2-3 weeks, with breaks only for eating, sleeping, and school, so it was actually a good many hours. I actually couldn't finish by the end of the semester, and had to get a deadline extension.

3) How did you do all those voices?

- Sound Forge was used to alter some of the voices. There is no way I could make my voice as low as Ramuh's or as warbly as Cid's. Others like Ryu-sensei's were attained through raw, painful effort.

4) What kind of class makes you do these things for a final?!

- The original assignment was to present an oral autobiography. I requested special permission to make a movie. My teacher isn't anything like the one depicted in this title - she's actually a good-natured woman.

5) Will you make a game of this?

- I might. It's looking pretty bleak, though. If I do produce one, it'd probably be in the fashion of FF Tactics (or FFV) and follow Pensuke to Sabaku University. Go Sabotenders~!

6) Why don't you make a sequel of this?

- I've seen enough titles go bad because the producers made sequels to please the crowd. Games, on the other hand, are a different story.

7) Can you teach me Japanese?

- Nope; I'm a student, not a teacher. If you're desperate enough, you can try looking for free online lessons or something. They're bound to be there.

You can watch the flash movie here.

Sony gives compensation with free 1 month PSN+ for all users

This week must be Sony's worst week in their history, and they know that. They also know all of you are frustrated and you probably hate them right now, so their trying to win you back with a free 1 month PSN+ subscription to all users. The Playstation blog was updated with this information but I wonder if this is enough?

They are calling it the "Welcome Back" program. it's the company’s way of appreciating your patience, support and continued loyalty. I'm sure some of you jumped shipped since personal information including credit card info was taken and it's understandable. I'm still wondering if this is enough to win our 'trust' back.

Central components of the “Welcome Back” program will include:

  • Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.
  • All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.
  • Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.

The content provided will be announce soon for each region so we'll see if it's actually worth it. But there's one feature that I'll abuse right away when this program goes live and that's the cloud save feature making you back up all your game saves into the psn. I just hope the hackers won't hack through that too.

Sony also mentioned that Some Playstation Network and Qriocity Services will be available this week. They have improved their security and will slowly turn on features of the PSN.

SNEI and its third-party experts have conducted extensive tests to verify the security strength of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. With these measures in place, SCE and SNEI plan to start a phased rollout by region of the services shortly. The initial phase of the rollout will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Restoration of Online game-play across the PlayStation®3 (PS3) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems -This includes titles requiring online verification and downloaded games
  • Access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3/PSP for existing subscribers
  • Access to account management and password reset
  • Access to download un-expired Movie Rentals on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
  • PlayStation®Home
  • Friends List
  • Chat Functionality

Weekend, what are you playing?

We enter into the month of May and with the PlayStation Network still down, meaning that all PS3 owners have no online fun for 2 weekends now. Still, people nowadays usually have more than one means of playing a video game here or there. So, what are you playing this weekend?

Migoy: Still fighting the good fight in Dissidia 012 Duodecim: Final Fantasy. 50+ hours in and halfway through Scenario 000. Grinding with other characters on Quick Party battles on the side. I have a few PSX titles on my PSP which I got before the great PSN crash of 2011. Also found a few older PSX titles such as the 3 Road Rash games and Harry Potter 1. A bit of nostalgia gaming. I also found a GameCube memory card at Datablitz which I bought in a heartbeat and tested it by revisiting Mortal Kombat Deception, that game controls like butt.

Quash: Finally sat down and finished Crysis 2 yesterday. It was a great game overall and i'm thinking of making a review about it. Since Crysis 2 is out of the way i think i'll continue with Portal 2, i just started and hoping to finish this too by today. It was said to be arund 6-8 hours long but of course it all depends if i fail in some of the test chambers.

Arlie: Still playing Patapon 3, I am using Yumiyacha (Ranged type) as my primary Uberhero class and switched it to Wondabarappa who shoots crap out of a magical tuba. I might finally start on Dissidia 012 Duodecim: Final Fantasy this week. I will also play and hopefully finish today the fourth episode of Back To The Future: The Game which is entitled "Double Visions".

Name for the next Assassin's Creed leaked by accident?

Someone managing the fan page in Facebook made a mistake by revealing the name of  the next Assassin's Creed game. Everybody assumes that it was a mistake since it was quickly brought down in minutes. But minutes is enough to get the leaked information, it seems like the next game might be called Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

Assassin's Creed's Facebook page reveals  that if you share and link the info given in the fan page it will reveal the next Assassin's Creed game. I'm guessing this will officially reveal the title of the game(which was leaked by accident)  and other information regarding the next game.

The fan page also revealed a teaser trailer with some clues about the game.

Is it a continuation of the current story?are we re-visiting Altair's time ? or are they giving us something entirely new, whatever it is, Ubisoft plans to officially reveal the game somewhere in May so watch out for it.
