Weekend, what are you playing?

big refractor September is almost over and I'm sure everyone is saving up for all the October releases but for this weekend, what are you playing?

Migoy: Been busy these past few Saturdays so I haven't been doing much weekend gaming. And with the analog stick of my PSP-3000 on the fritz, it looks like I'll have to pass by the shop before getting down to my usual portable gaming. I have been getting the urge to play some old Mega Man Legends again after having a 3DS discussion with my cousins and mentioning the cancellation of Legends 3 so I might revisit the digger adventures of Megaman Volnutt. I think I also still have my copy of The Misadventure of Tron Bonne lying around here somewhere.

Red Dead Redemption DLC Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack

Arlie: Same with Migoy, I also haven't played that much this week either, because I've been busy with the site migration and improving the site. I'm still playing Dead Island, I'm more of a completionist so I want to finish all of the possible side quests and experience every possible scenario in one play through before I move on to the story. I heard that the final DLC for Red Dead Redemption, Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack which you can grab for free have been released so I also might play a little online multiplayer of RDR this weekend.

Quash: Dead island still, waiting for the release of Gears of War 3 so I'm going through my second playthrough with Purna this time and hopefully get my first character Logan to 50. It's a good game, but a very buggy one. Didin't experience anything game breaking at the moment but believe me, there are.

New Silent Hill: Downpour trailer from TGS 2011

Silent Hill Downpour screenshot Konami debuted a new trailer of Silent Hill: Downpour. Problem is, the music doesn't fit with the trailer at all. Completely distracted me from watching the trailer. Good Korn song though.

I really like Silent Hill, but every time this title shows up I feel disappointed. I miss playing Silent Hill games. I miss The creepy monsters, the foggy atmosphere, and the static coming from your radio to say danger is near. When Silent Hill: Downpour was announced, I was excited for it. We need a new Silent Hil. But the way their promoting this game prevents me from liking it. Like the gameplay demo showing 'Dark Combat'. woot! wait, can't see anything....

Devil May Cry TGS trailer

Mostly everybody isn't too happy with Dante's new look(me included), but regardless of Dante's emo style, the gameplay seems to be intact. Ninja Theory and Capcom shows off Devil May Cry in TGS 2011 and released a new trailer showing that it will still play like the old games.

I'm still skeptical with the changes. At the same time, Capcom isn't developing this title, Ninja Theory(Enslaved: odyssey to the West, Heavenly Sword) is working on it. They knew that the reaction of the new look will be mostly negative, but went with it anyway. With the negative feedback towards the change in Dante's look,  most of the latest trailers released focuses entirely on gameplay footage. In terms of gameplay, it looks great. Gameplay looks and seems similar to the old Devil May Cry games. Is that enough though to keep people interested?

Gears of War 3 reviews are in!

Gears of War 3 is days away and reviews from all the big sites are in. Overall, almost close to all reviews give the last Gears of War game a near perfect scores and giving a lot of praise to the campaign. Excited for the release? I am.

Here's a list of some scores:

Game Informer - 95/100

IGN -  9/10

Eurogamer - 8/10

G4 - 5/5

Gamespot - 9.5/10

Joystiq - 5/5

Gametrailers - 9.4/10

Seems like Gears of War 3 is getting praise in every aspect. Campaign, multiplayer, story, and of course gameplay. This is definitely living up to the hype. This game is definitely a must buy for any Xbox 360 owner and will be inside your system for a long time. There's a lot to look forward to. Question is, which one will you jump in first? Horde mode? multiplayer?, or the campaign that can be played either split screen or co-op. Gears of War 3 is just around the corner but it feels like its taking forever.

If someone needs to get updated on the events of the Gears of War story, here's a link to the game's timeline. Thanks Epic Games.

Legend of Zelda: Four Swords - Gameplay Trailer

four Links During my 3rd year in Highschool, a friend of mine lent me his Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the GBA and in return I let him borrow my Mega Man Zero cartridge. We went on to trade more games over the summer.

To be honest, the only Zelda game I had played before that was Oracle of Ages which I didn't find very fun. When I played Link to the Past I thought the graphics where butt. why did Link have purple hair? I knew the GBA could do better than that (during that time I didn't know Link to the Past was originally on the SNES). Still I found a great deal of enjoyment from that little game and really opened my eyes to the Zelda franchise. But there was another game on that cartrige. It had a nicer sprited Link, a sword that could split 1 hero into four, and a kick ass intro. There was a problem. I couldn't play the game alone and always wondered how that game played. That game was The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.

After around 2 years, I was finally able to play Four Swords with other people via an emulator. I didn't knew very few that owned a GBA. They didn't have a link cable nor did we really have the same games so emulator was the only way to go with this. I gotta say that it was a blast.

With Four Swords coming to DSiWare and wireless communication now the norm, this is the perfect time to have a Zelda Four Swords LAN Party.

Aside from the main Four Swords game, there looks be a ton of new content. From new areas and puzzles to a NES looking stage and a original Gameboy area.
