Crysis 3 multiplayer Beta coming Jan 29
EA just announced that the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will start on Januayry 29 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
The open beta will include two game modes:
Hunter Mode: This multiplayer game mode is all about survival of the fittest. There are two teams, initially comprised of two permanently cloaked “Hunters”, and up to fourteen CELL troopers awaiting extraction. Each trooper slain respawns on the Hunter team to prey on their former allies, building to a frenetic climax. If any of the troopers survive the round, the hunters lose. Whichever way you play, Hunter Mode delivers a heart-pounding test of strategy and survival.
Crash Site Mode:
This multiplayer game mode is the ultimate King of the Hill type experience. An Alien dropship deploys a pod at random around the map. Players on each team must remain near the dropped pod in order to capture the zone and accumulate points. Each alien pod holds two shields players can utilize defensively as weapons. In addition, each Crash Site map will have a “Pinger”, a CEPH-constructed walking weapon of mass destruction. But be careful, other players can hijack the Pinger while you’re inside of it!
Two maps will be available during the beta:
Museum: Roam the dark Ruins of Museum in downtown Manhattan and use the verticality to your advantage.
Airport: Close to the financial district, nature has taken over buildings and planes in this open fields area.
I'm quite glad that this multiplayer demo is hitting all platforms. While I'm not too excited to play Crysis 2, err... I mean Crysis 3, multiplayer is something I really enjoyed on Crysis 2 and I'd like to see the changes made for the third game.
Crysis 3 is said to max out the capabilities of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. It's possible since until now, Crysis 2 is still one of the best looking games out there thanks to the CryENGINE 3.
Together with the news about the beta, EA also released a new trailer, enjoy.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen coming this April
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, which is considered an expansion of the game, will be released on April 23 in the US, and April 26 in Europe.
If you are planning to buy Dragon's Dogma, I suggest you wait for Dark Arisen to get that budget price and not miss out on the extra content. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is priced at $40 when it comes out. It will be offered in both physical and digital distribution.
It's more like a relaunch of the game than anything else. The expansion will include a new island to explore, 100 new equipment, a better travel system (change based on player feedback), 25 new monsters, new skills and augments, and increased character customization.
For those that did purchase the game already and have a save, you will be able to import your old save into the expansion. Also, owners of the original Dragon's Dogma will receive 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free
That's a lot of added content . Is it worth buying? For players that haven't touched Dragon's Dogma definitely, but for those that already own it, it all depends on how much you want to revisit Gran Soren. I just wish we get a price cut if you do own the game, because it is an "expansion". I'll say it again, if you are planning to get Dragon's Dogma, just wait for Dark Arisen.

Aliens: Colonial Marines gets a new trailer and goes all dubstep
SEGA just released a new trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines called 'Kick ass'. The trailer is a bit too much on the dubstep but hey, the game does look "kick ass" and I'm just glad the game is finally coming out. Check out the trailer below.
This will be the first game set on the same timeline as the movies. Somewhat like a sequel since the events in the game occurs after Aliens 3.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be out on February 19 and has gone gold. No more delays for this Aliens game.
Latest Nintendo Direct talks all about Wii U and its upcoming games
The latest Nintendo Direct was packed with Wii U game announcements. Games like Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Monolith's Project X title, and with Shin-Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem were presented. But after all that, there was bigger news that involved Mario, Zelda, and that Smash Bros. game people love so much.
The games we want are coming
Nintendo announced that a new 3D Mario game and Mario Kart game is currently in development for the Wii U. Nothing was shown yet, but Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata says that these games will make an appearance in this year's E3 in a playable form.

Smash Bros. gets a small mention during the presentation. Development is still on track and expect to see the first screens of the game during this year's E3. E3 kicks off this June 11.
The Zelda Wii U game was also mentioned during the presentation. Sadly, the new Zelda game is still not ready for a reveal. Nintendo asks fans to wait a little while longer. To make the wait a lot easier, they announced that they will be remaking The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the Wii U with enhanced graphics. They did not go into detail whether there will be added content or changes to the gameplay. No release date was given yet.
They also reveal a new Wii U party game that features different kinds of game styles that utilizes the Wii U GamePad. Casual games that are best played as a group, or games that let you go head-to-head with a friend with just the GamePad. It's planned to launch this summer.

One more game to mention -Yoshi is finally coming back with Yarn Yoshi. The last Yoshi game was Yoshi's Story that was on the Nintendo 64, way back in 1998. The new Yoshi game will get similar visuals seen in Kirby's Epic Yarn. Takashi Tezuka, director of Yoshi’s Story, will be supervising the development.
Wii U updates, Virtual Console, and Miiverse updates
The Wii U will have 2 major updates: The Spring update(around March), and the Summer (around June) update. These updates will improve the loading time when launch software, and shorten how long it takes to return to the Wii U menu screen.
The Spring update, will include a feature that allow players to browse their Miiverse with their smartphones. The feature will be browser-based but Nintendo plans to make a Miiverse app in the future.
A new Wii U Fit app Wii Fit U Communities was revealed giving player the ability to create communities in the miiverse to discuss exercise BMI, weight changes and other health topics with other players.
Virtual Console (seen in the 3DS and Wii), an online service that allows players to buy classic Nintendo titles, will be hitting the Wii U after the Spring update. All Virtual Console titles already on the Wii will be made available in the Wii U version, but not the full line-up will be available on release. The cost of these games on the Wii U will be the same price as the ones found on the Wii. if by any chance you already own some Virtual Console games on the Wii, you can purchase the Wii U version at a reduced price of $1 for NES games and $1.50 for Super NES games.
Also announced is the 30th anniversary celebration of the release of the Famicom (NES) in Japapan. In celebration, Nintendo will be releasing one classic famicom game each month for only 30 cents for 30 days. The promo will start this January and will last until July. Here's the list.
- January - balloon Fight
- February - F-Zero
- March - Punch Out! Featuring Mr. Dream
- April - Kirby's Adventure
- May - Super Metroid
- June - Yoshi
- July - Donkey Kong
Whew, that's a lot to take in. Nintendo is going all out and that's good to see since they have a new console now out. You can watch the full Nintendo Direct presentation below.
Shin-Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem trailer
Another game, another mash up. Shin-Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem was announced during Nintendo's latest Nintendo Direct. A teaser trailer is out to get fans of both franchises excited. Check the trailer below.
Information is quite slim, but characters from both franchise will make an appearance. In terms of gameplay? No clue yet on how this game will play out. It's a weird pair with each game having completely different settings (one high fantasy, one post apocalyptic/modern day-ish), but we'll see what they have planned when we see more if it in the future.
