New Xbox will be revealed May 21
With Sony now done revealing the PlayStation 4, and Nintendo already having the Wii U out on stores, everybody wondered when Microsoft will unveil their next console. Well, it's happening on May 21 in Redmond, Washington.
Major Nelson confirmed that the reveal is indeed happening and will be broadcasted live on Xbox Liv, Sike TV, and Xbox.com. It's going to be big just like the rest, but I'll have to consider May 21 the star of the next-generation war. With all the big three's next-gen consoles revealed, it's going to be a tough fight to win every costumers living room during this year's holidays. Plus, the talk of the new console won't stop there with E3 just a few weeks away.
The event is scheduled to start at 10AM in Redmond, Washington and is expected to last until an hour. For all the people in the Philippines, the event starts for us on the 22nd of May,and will start at 1AM. If you live somewhere else, you can check this for confirmation.
Will we see an Xbox combined with the Kinect? an Xbox that's required online at all times to do anything? We'll find out on May 21.
Pick 5: Some awkward/weird moments in video games
Games can have their moments, moments that would give you goosebumps when it happens and turns out to be an unforgettable experience. Sadly, this Pick 5 isn't about those epic moments, that's for another time. I'm focusing on the complete opposite for now, the moments that give you that awkward feeling. There's quite a lot in video game history, but this batch really make me check who's in the room because it would feel weird going through with it if someone is around. I mean seriously..
Playing Raiden naked
Way before Metal Gear Solid's Raiden became the cyborg ninja in MGS4 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, he was just a soldier like Snake. In Metal Gear Solid 2, all is great, but there was that one part in the game many hours in where Raiden is stripped of everything...even his clothes. The player gets control of the naked Raiden holding his uhm...package and you must sneak through the area and reach Snake who has your equipment. What's funny is it's not a 2 minute point in the game, it's a whole area. knocking out some people maybe required, even a few cartwheels is needed to go through. It was so weird to play that part in the game but that's Hideo Kojima for you.
Tidus and Yuna laughing it out
Final Fantasy X, believe it or not is one of my favorites. Easily one of the best in the series. I loved everything about that game, but as much as I love this game to this day, this scene with Tidus and Yuna still makes me cringe every time. It's not the voice acting, its just plain dumb and I've yet to find someone who laughs like that in public, and if I do, I'll have to punch him.
That weird dance in Resonance of Fate
Never played the RPG Resonance of Fate? It's a must play for any JRPG fans. The combat is what makes this game special. Understanding the combat can be a chore, but is quite rewarding once you get used to it, and if you get really good at it, you might just reach this point in the game to make you see this scene first-hand. The cutscene is fine, but it's that dance in Vashyron's head. I have no idea what dance that was but It was pretty awkward to watch.
Press X to Jason
Heavy Rain was definitely a must play if you own a PS3. It's unique storytelling is intense and engaging. Even when your frantically looking for the characters son in a crowded mall and pressing X to call out his name can be intense. No I'm just kidding, it was awkward and hilarious really. Intended to be a very emotional part into the game turned out to be a good example how quick time events don't make a scene any better, or even emotional. What's worse is how there are different awful ways Ethan calls out his son's name. JASONNNNN! Instant classic though.
in-game Sex scenes in general

Sex scene's added into a game is still controversial in the gaming industry and can be scandalous to the public if not done properly. But many should realize that most of them are very much awkward to watch. Heck, even a regular kiss even now is quite weird to watch, it sometimes looks like two birds trying to transfer food from one another. It's getting better yes as we move forward and as new characters get more pixels, it would come out more natural, but right now its not there yet.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection
With me deciding to get a GameCube instead of a PS2 back in the day, I missed out on a lot of really cool games. I have a PS2 now but I still haven't gotten a chance to play both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I do currently own a PS3 but have not yet acquired a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The HD collection was a prime choice for me to catch up on some Tactical Espionage Action and with MGS4 going for sale on the cheap, money constraints have still prevented me from getting those particular disc. This latest announcement from Konami seems to solve all that.
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is basically the MGS HD Collection plus MGS4. Aside from the adventures of Solid Snake and Naked Snake's intruduction into the MGS series, Peace Walker is also part of this new collection. What really interested me is the inclusion of Ashely Wood's digital graphic novels. Since the word 'novel' is used in it's plural form, I am hoping that the digital graphic novel of MGS2 is also included as I have never heard anything about it outside of that first trailer that I saw that one time on GameTrailers. This legacy is a collection that I must own.
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is scheduled to come in June of this year on PS3. No word yet on an Xbox360 release but with the omission of Peace Walker on the Xbox360 version of the MGS HD Collection, don't get your hopes up.
Bethesda reveals The Evil Within
Bethesda has revealed their new IP which strays away from the usual games we see the publisher dish out. It's called The Evil Within and is created by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Is this Survival Horror's comeback finally? Well, thanks to the goosebumps I got from this live action teaser, I'd say yes for now.
Unsettling stuff I know, but don't get completely sold just yet. This is a live action and we'd like to see if the Resident Evil mastermind and Bethesda can convert all that disturbing atmosphere into a game. The Survival Horror genre has seen better days and I'm hoping this could well be a good jump-start for the genre to get momentum and new players wanting for more. And when gamers want more, developers and publishers will try to meet that demand.
There isn't much info about The Evil Within at this point but it's set for a 2014 release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and next generation consoles.
Crytek USA looking into buying Darksiders franchise
This is actually old news but I was thinking if posting anyway because I'd really like this franchise to stay afloat for future projects. With me now a fan of the series that has now played both Darksiders 1 and 2, It would be sad to see a series go out like this simply because It couldn't find a new home after THQ's unfortunate bankruptcy. But thankfully a company has taken interested . Crytek USA has shown interest and the best part is a good portion of what used to be Vigil Games(Developers of Darksiders) is now working at the said studio.
CEO of Crytek USA David Adams was once the head of Vigil Games and is now attempting to bid the Darksiders franchise during this month's last batch of THQ IP auction. The CEO tweeted that "The IP belongs in the hands of its creators.". The bidding started during the start of April and all bids concluded on the 15th of April, on May 1, we will see the results of the auction.
Hopefully everything goes their way since I'd like to see the franchise get picked up and hopefully continued in the near future. There's a chance someone would own the franchise when the auction ends this month, but the best case scenario is Crytek USA owning it. Crytek is excited with the newly formed USA studio composed of Vigil developers but is sadly not interested in making a new Darksiders game as of right now. But it's better to have the series in the creators pockets when an opportunity presents itself.
Darksiders is a game with tons of elements mixed together. It's one title that isn't afraid to take risks, and the difference in gameplay between the two games is quite big thanks to the second game's level up and loot system that makes you feel like your playing some sort of action RPG mixed with Zelda-like gameplay.
If you get the chance, try out Darksiders 1 and 2. If your into hack and slash games, you might appreciate this game plus the added elements around it. I'm currently going through Darksiders 2 on my PC and It bothers me that when I finish the game, there might be nothing after it. Praying that we get good news at the end of the month.
