Pick 5: Best Looking Supers From Injustice: Gods Among Us

best injustice supers In this day and age when character supers are included in fighting games, they are usually flashy and cinematic. That is the case with Injustice: Gods Among Us. Of course there will be some supers that look better than the others. In this case, five supers. Here are the five best looking supers in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Superman - Kryptonian Crush A with "super" in his name should have the most powerful looking one, right? While it might not look like the strongest super in terms of visual impact. It does show and impressive display of Superman's strength. He does this very heroic looking pose with his cape flying off the side and shows the fire in his as before he dashes towards his opponent, grabs them by chest and just straight up punches them into space. A one hit space punch. But that's not it, he chases after them, beating them past past the Earth's orbit and then does a Dragon Ball Z like sledgehammer and sends them crashing back down into the ground. They should have called it "Space Punch" instead of "Kryptonian Crush". Did I mention that the initial hit is an overhead?

The Flash - Speed Zone Flash charges into the opponent putting them into a stun state and then proceeds to run around the world to build up enough momentum for a power uppercut. After he pseudo-shoryukens the enemy, he goes up and behind them to punch them again knocking them to the ground. It's funny that no matter where you are (be in in Gotham City or outer space in the Watch Tower), Flash always runs towards Mexico when he does this super. Because video games.

The Joker - Let's Be Serious Possibly one of the simplest non-superpowered supers around but it's just so entertaining to watch that I included it in this list. Joker throws a pie full screen and if it hits, he brings out a crowbar and whacks the opponent across the face twice, pulls out a cartoon sized revolver, shoots you in the head with a smug smile on his face, pulls a laughing gas canister seemingly out of his ass, hits the opponent in the head with it knocking them down to the floor AND THEN busts out a rocket launcher from God knows where, aims it point blank and says "Wakey wakey!" before pulling the trigger.

Lex Luthor - Coordinates Received Luthor does a series of 4 punches (that has armor properties) and if the last punch hits, he zaps the enemy with binding electricity. He then starts pressing buttons on his Buzz Lightyear wrist communicator telling a satellite laser what their coordinates are. The satellite then shoots a red laser beam. On the opponent? No! On Lex Luthor which he catches above his head and uses the energy to form an energy orb and drops it down on whoever he's fighting. The camera then shows the satellite view from space again and the explosion is visible from all the way up there. Why didn't he just shoot the laser on his enemy? Because making your very own Spirit Bomb is much much cooler.

Aquaman - Atlantian Rage Finally, we have everyone's favorite super from everyone's favorite character. The man of the sea. The king of Atlantis. The guy who can talk to fish. Aquaman. Aquaman whacks the enemy on the head with his golden pitchfork and then summons a giant wave accompanied by all manner of sea creatures. Stabs the enemy with his fork and hoists them up after which a shark will come out and just chomp them away. Similar to Flash's super, no matter where you are Aquaman will always summon water and fish. Even in outer space. To quote Jason Mews; "Aquaman got mad sharks!". Did I mention that the initial hit is also an overhead? Did I mention that the initial hit is also an overhead?

Saints Row IV - Meet the President

saints row 4 meet the presidentWhat's better than being the President of the United States of America? Being a super powered President of the United States of America.

A new trailer for Saints Row IV shows the president (your character) showing off some of the super powers that you can do in the game to fight off the alien invasion. This game is looking nice. Having played and enjoyed Saints Row The Third, I can already tell that is going to be even better.

Star Wars franchise stays alive, EA signs multi-year publishing deal with Disney

Star Wars Logo LucasArts may be dead, but thankfully, EA has stepped up and signed a deal with Disney to develop and publish Star Wars games. As much as we have a love/hate relationship with EA, they are the right company for the franchise...no, really.

John Pleasant, Disney Interactive’s Co-President issued the following statement:

“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come. Collaborating with one of the world’s premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to our fans around the world.”

Now EA gets rights to do publishing and developing of Star Wars games, but when it comes to mobile, social, and online games, Disney will retain the rights to developing those types of Star Wars games.

This is actually good news since EA has studios like Bioware(KOTOR, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect), Visceral Games (Dead Space franchise), and DICE (Battlefield 3) as possible developers for future Star Wars games. This franchise just seems to fit well with EA, but hopefully they don't "DMR" use and make everybody hate them all over again. For now, I'm happy.

Like the new deal made? Or do you prefer another company to get the rights?

Monday Impressions: The Amazing Spider-Man

monday impressions amazing spider-manIron Man 3 just hit theaters and strangely enough, we haven't seen a Marvel movie game tie in after The Avengers. The most recent Marvel movie game we got was The Amazing Spider-man, the Spider-man game that was thought to bring life back to open world web swinging. The Amazing Spider-man was developed by Beenox, the same studio that did the two previous Spider-man games up tp this point. Now while I can say that Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions was a decent game and personally have not tried Spider-man: Edge of Time. Edge of Time looked boring just from the few gameplay trailers that came out. When majority of a game's trailers do not show gameplay and only show developers talking about how "good" it is, it's usually not.

Shattered Dimensions had you control four different Spider-men across different universes and Edge of Time had you control two Spider-man from the present and the future. Both games had web swinging but were not open world. The Amazing Spider-man returned you to the city of New York where you are free to swing around where ever you please. The previous Spider-man game that featured and open world was Spider-man: Web of Shadows, which I honestly think is a good game.

amazing spider-man 01The story takes place after the events of the movie where Doc Conners is in jail and Oscorp continues his research and mutates animals into familiar Spider-man villains. The mutation becomes a virus that the animals spread around the city turning people into monsters and it's up to Spider-man to stop them. The story fits the movie's lore and the voice acting is also pretty spot on. But maybe they should have picked a different person to voice Spider-man instead of using Donatello from the 2003 TMNT series.

Alright, my main gripe with The Amazing Spider-man is the web swinging control is far inferior compared to Web of Shadows. Jumping, wall crawling, web swinging, and web zipping are all very floaty. In the context of the open world just being a medium for you to travel to the mission areas, it's functional but after Web of Shadows and Spider-man 2 giving such a fulfilling web swinging controls, this very gimped version of swinging is a step back. Oringinally I thought that it was fine since there's not really anything in the open world for you to do but then I found out that there are collectible comic book pages that you can find to unlock comic book issues in the gallery mode. Instead of zipping to the exact building or water tower I want, I end up going to the wrong building 3 blocks down and losing sight of the collectible.

amazing spider-man 02Combat is pretty mundane as well, being a copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum's counter system where Spdiey's spider sense ripples would appear above his head when an enemy is about to strike. It's not bad by any means and the ripples makes sense with Spidey's power but it just doesn't feel right. Combat is floaty, there are no combos to speak off aside from hammering the attack button and occasionally hitting the circle button to web enemies to the floor or walls. Landing counters feels very vauge as well since the animations for combos and counters look very similar.

Long story short, The Amazing Spider-man is by no means the best Spider-man game out there but it's decent and is probably the best Spider-man game from Beenox. If you can get this game for a good price and like the wall crawling hero then go for it. All my gripes mainly stem from my liking of Web of Shadows.
