That flashy debut trailer that was first revealed at the Xbox presser at E3 has really got us pumped for Devil May Cry 5. It's sexy, it's stylish, it's everything you expect from a game about devilish rogues that may or may not cry.
But according to an interview with its director Hideaki Itsuno with Dengeki Online, the game won't all be style, there'll be substance too. User Sesha translated the interview over at ResetEra, and it confirms that the game has been in development for four years now, beginning a year before the release of Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition.
Itsuno dropped many tidbits throughout the interview. He established that Dante's bearded look has a "reason" beside being an older dude. Kyrie, a major supporting character from DMC4 returns, and the game will focus back to demons, and just demons, none of that "heaven is a third party to all this" kind of stuff.
The story will be first and foremost the story of Nero, but Dante and V maintain important roles in the game. Itsuno even says he hopes the story will make the player get emotional and cry. That's right, it's taken six games for the franchise to ask if players may cry, like devils do.
