Check Out Almost 14 Minutes Of Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay
The State of Play focused on Guerilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West revealed almost 14-minutes of gameplay showcasing a variety of new features from traversing the land, combat, and new robots to face as she explores west through a ruined San Francisco now recaptured by wildlife and mechanical beasts.
It’s no doubt impressive visually as the lighting and the detail really pops in this gameplay reveal. For the most part, movement and combat remain the same with added features like the grapple hook and underwater swimming. There’s also the attachment Aloy adds to her spear during combat to give her weapon extra oomph, and how it was presented reminds me of a fighting game super triggered by the player.
It’s rumored that Horizon Forbidden West is slated for a late 2021 release but no official announcement was given after the State of Play presentation. In a PlayStation Blog post, Guerrilla Games narrative director Ben McCaw says “We don’t have an exact release date yet, but development is on track and we’ll have an update for you very soon.”
Don’t forget that Forbidden West will also be coming to the PS4, so i’m curious to see a side by side comparison between the two versions of the game. Hopefully we get more details about the game sooner than later, but for now, all we get is this lengthy gameplay presentation above and some new screenshots of the game below.
Until Dawn 2 was revealed at Sony's June 2026 State of Play. Developed by Firesprite, the PS5 sequel follows a new cast of ghost hunters on a tropical island, launching in 2027.
