Microsoft Officially Reveals Xbox Series S, Priced at $299
Microsoft has made it official by announcing the Xbox Series S, a next-gen console calling it “the smallest Xbox ever” and pricing it at $299.
This announcement comes after a number of reputable publications reporting that the price and even the release date for both of Microsoft’s next-gen consoles the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S has been leaked.
The key leaked information originated from Jez Corden and Zac Brown of Windows Central, reporting that the Xbox Series S will cost $300 while the Xbox Series X will cost $500, and that both next-gen consoles will be out on November 10, 2020. While the Xbox Series X’s price has yet to be made official, the fact that the S is confirmed gives the leak information more credibility.
The Xbox Series S will be a less powerful console based on various reports about it months ago suggesting that it’s a 4-teraflop machine that will be using the same CPU as the Series X. It will also have less GPU power, less RAM, and is designed for 1080p and 1440p gaming with no 4K support.
In Microsoft’s tweet confirming the Xbox Series S’ price tag, it says “Looking forward to sharing more! Soon. Promise.” We’ll just have to wait and see, or wait for another wave of leaks to surface.
