Mistfall Hunter Hits 1 Million Players, Full Roadmap Revealed

Bellring Games announced that their extraction game Mistfall Hunter has reached 1 million players across all of its available platforms. This is a big accomplishment as this is a paid title in a niche genre, but it’s worth noting that this is also available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

To celebrate this milestone, the developers is giving in-game rewards through the game’s mailing system for players that log in before August 12:

  • Standing Pose: Spellcasting emote

  • 5x Moonlight Nectar

  • 1x Pro Combat Bag

  • 1x Advanced Combat Bag

They also revealed the game’s first full roadmap after it officially launched last week.

Mistfall Hunter Post-Launch Roadmap

The roadmap shared didn’t have exact dates, but players now have a good idea what to expect from the rest of season 1 and what’s coming in season 2.

For Starters, they just updated the game with Mist Lord challenges in the Einherjar, which shows their plans of adding more to the game post-launch has just started. The exciting thing is the fact that on phase 2, players will be able to play the game’s second map solo in the future. This is one of the most requested features since it launched as right now, only solo play can be done in the game’s first map.

The other plans are a bit vague if you’re not familiar with the game, but season 2 will have a major addition as the Blackarrow class (archer) will be getting a new weapon type: the Javalin.

Hitting the 1 million players mark is really a difficult goal in today’s market as extraction-like online games have been considered niche due to its punishing risk and reward concept of losing all your gear and spoils in each death. It’s a type of game that can actually make you sweat as there’s a lot of pressure of losing an item you desperately need for progression, a concept made famous by the first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov.

Since launch, the game peaked at over 44K players on Steam and has a reasonably stable player base stabilizing around 30K in peak hours. A good sign as we don’t see much of a player drop off in the first week. On Steam, user reviews are currently ‘mixed’ due to network, technical, and balancing issues slowly showing up as more players have a full understanding of each class. OCE players are also constantly requesting for their own servers and others are experiencing rubber banding and other lag issues.

I’ve played the game extensively since it launched with zero to no knowledge about it as I never had the opportunity to play the game’s many playtests. Thankfully, I have it a shot on PC Game Pass as I consider it an extraction game gem, as it’s filling the void that extraction game Dark and Darker is struggling to fill.
