Phoenix Point Gets delayed Again, Comes out this December
Phoenix Point, the strategy game by the creator of XCOM, gets another delay, developer Snapshot Games announced.
Previously slated for a September 3, 2019 release, Phoenix Point will now launch exclusively (for just a year) on the Epic Game Store in December. No exact date was given.
But those that backed the game during its Fig crowdfunding campaign will receive the backer Build 5 to play the latest version of the game to provide feedback.
“We know this is not our first delay, and we are very sorry to the fans who we know are highly anticipating getting their hands on Phoenix Point. No one is more disappointed than we are, but we collectively agree that we would rather miss a launch date than ship something that does not meet our exacting standards. We want the Phoenix Point you play to be one of your favorite games of all time, and that means we need a bit more time.” the developer wrote in a forum post.
Phoenix Point was originally set for a 2018 release but was delayed to a July 2019, then a September 3 release.
Hopefully, this will be the last release by XCOM creator Julian Gollop and the rest of his team.
Until Dawn 2 was revealed at Sony's June 2026 State of Play. Developed by Firesprite, the PS5 sequel follows a new cast of ghost hunters on a tropical island, launching in 2027.
