Splinter Cell Animated Series Coming to Netflix
There seems to be a trend nowadays where you take X video game property and turn it into a Netflix show. Not to say that this is a bad thing as game IPs being turned into a different medium helps introduce it to a new audience. This is especially good for games that haven't received any new entries within the last few years. Following the updates on the Cuphead Show and the Dragon's Dogma anime that are coming to Netflix, Splinter Cell looks to be next in line to be getting an animated series on the streaming platform.
Netflix has partnered with Ubisoft and has brought in, John Wick writer, Derek Kolstad to oversee the project as executive producer. The animated show is set for two seasons totaling 16 episodes. Further details have yet to be revealed but it's safe to assume that the show will be following the adventures of former U.S. Navy SEAL Sam Fisher, who has been the series' protagonist in both the video games and novels.
We haven't really received anything Splinter Cell related since its latest entry, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, back in 2013. While an anime series might not be what fans have been waiting for when it comes to new Splinter Cell news, Netflix has done us good so far when it comes to adapting different properties into a show. Hopefully, this will fare better than 2016's Assassin's Creed movie.
