The Division 2, the upcoming sequel to Ubisoft’s third-person RPG shooter, will only be available to PC players through Uplay and the recently launched Epic Games store, skipping the biggest online store available today - Steam.
No one knows the extend of the deal made between Ubisoft and Epic Games, but having a company like Ubisoft to release in their platform and skip Steam is saying a lot.
Epic Games store just launch in December of 2018 and is appealing right out of the gate thanks to developers getting a bigger cut compared to stores like Steam. For consumers, Epic Games store currently doesn’t have a large library of games compared to online stores that have been around for years. But what they have are new games only available in Epic Games store. Like, SuperGiant Games’ latest game called Hades, Genesis Alpha One, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, Ashen, Super Meat Boy Forever, and just recently, the last season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.
With The Division 2 now on board with Epic Games’s online store, that’s a lot of money going away from Valve. This goes to show how aggressive Epic Games store is right now. To entice more costumers, they’re even giving out free games every month. Last month was Subnautica, the open-world survival game by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. This month, Super Meat Boy was available until Jan 10, and What Remains of Edith Finch from Jan 10 to 24.
The Division 2 will be out on March 15, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders for PC players are now offered through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games store only. With all of these enticing moves from Epic Games store, this online store is one to watch out for this 2019.

If you’re a fan of the Metroidvania genre, or action platforming games in general, I couldn’t recommend Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown more. The Lost Crown nimbly juggles combat, character progression, platforming, exploration, environmental puzzle-solving, boss encounters, and storytelling, all without neglecting one element to the detriment of another.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora features a familiar open-world formula that is a perfect match for this adventure, as this is a planet with so much care and thought put in that despite its flaws, I found myself itching to explore what’s beyond all those floating rocks. But if you’re not on board with how Ubisoft does open-world games, then you’ll be struggling with half of the game’s core pillars right off the bat.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is proof that the original, stealthy approach to the series’ formula still works just fine in 2023; Ubisoft’s commitment and focus on a single concept is a testament to its core strengths. Mirage lacks ambition, but it’s a welcome correction from recent bloated series entries.
