RGP # 22 - Legend of Zelda - Main Theme on Marimba

Random Gaming Post # 22

With Skyward Sword only months away and rumored to have a full orchestral soundtrack, it's onyl fitting that I share this video with you.

I came across this video a few day ago via a post on Facebook and it's safe to say that I geeked out hard. Having not known what a Marimba was prior to watching this video I am glad to say that hearing one of my favorite video game themes on this instrument left my ears pleased.

3DS gets a second slide pad for Monster Hunter [Update]

Monster Hunter Tri will be ported over to the 3DS under the name Monster Hunter 3G. The added 'G' will indicate that it won't be just a direct port but will also be packed with content. Aside from the Tri's world, underwater elements included, 3G will also contain the expanded world that was in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. This is a good thing for the 3DS since Monster Hunter is a very big franchise in gaming today and will surely bring up sales for Nintendo's latest handheld. But all you MH veterans know that controlling your character and the camera at the same time on the PSP was very awkward, forcing you to do the 'claw' but controlling the analog stick with your thumb and D-pad with your index finger. And with the 3DS' layout of the slide pad being above the D-pad, one can only imagine how the 'claw' will be performed.

According to Famitsu, there will be a right slide pad attachment for Monster Hunter 3G. It will snap onto the 3DS will be slightly smaller than the left slide pad. It will be positioned to the right of the face buttons and will have it's own pair of triggers because the peripheral will cover the existing shoulder buttons on the system.

Capcom will probably show off Monster Hunter 3G at TGS and it's possible we may see a product demo or at least a peek at this new peripheral.

[Update]

With the release of the latest edition of Famitsu we finally get a look at the new peripheral. Kinda reminds me of the SEGA Gamegear, maybe it's just the color.

Called the "Kakuchou Slide Pad," or "Expansion Slide Pad," it really does add a bit of bulk to the system.

Back to the Future episode 1 free on PSN until September 27

The first of five episodes from the 'point-and-click without actually pointing and clicking' Back to the Future adventures games by Telltale games is up for free now on the PlayStation Network. Take note that this will only last until September 27 so go grab it while you still can.

Episode 1 of Back of the Future the game also went free for the PC and Mac earlier this year, I think it was back in February? But if you missed it then or don't have a PC that can run it and you own a PS3 then the gods of time has given you a second chance. If you where iffy about this series and wanted to try it but didn't want to shell out the money for the game then FREE is certainly something that is hard to resist.

Since I don't own a PS3, I had Arlie check it out and he confirms that it's legit. So what are you waiting for? EIGHTY-EIGHT MILES PER HOUR!

Dead Island patch fixes broken PC version of the game, but say goodbye to your save

When Dead Island came out, most PC gamers got first dibs since they bought digital copies from Steam and started downloading the game. Surprisingly enough, that copy of the game in Steam is apparently an old build of the game(actually, its a Xbox 360 dev build) which still had dev keys in them. It was buggy as ever and have cheat codes and a fly mode hotkey'd to the letter 'Y' on your keyboard. Who made the mistake of releasing this copy? no one knows but I'm sure he's kicking himself right now.

Thankfully a patch has come to fix all these issues, but you lose all your save files in the process. Devs couldn't find a way to save your progress and patch up this pre-released version of the game so they decided to provide a chapter select so you can at least salvage any progress you've made. Patch is up but another issue showed up. Activating the Ripper weapon(pre-order item) is now not working. Techland is aware of this issue and is looking for a fix. Talk about the worst game release in steam. They feel bad for the players that experienced this pre-release build and will announce a "make up" in the coming days.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 version of the game is out now in the Philippines with the PC retail version still MIA. I so want to get this game but on PC. Been thinking about getting the game when it gets released in steam for us on the 9th but with these kinds of issues? I'll patiently wait for the smoke to clear.

ESRB rates Devil May Cry HD Collection

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) has recently rated the Devil May Cry games on PS2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This bascially confirms that a DMC HD Collection is real even with no announcement from Capcom. Given that it's the series' 10th anniversary this year, this comes as no surprise.

The HD collection is said to have the first 3 Devil May Cry games that have been released on the PS2 in the past.
