Cliff Bleszinski leaves Epic Games

Cliff Bleszinski, best known for his work on Gears of War and Unreal, announced his departure from Epic Games. He was one of the co-founders of Epic and has been in the gaming industry for 20 years now. He leaves to move on to the "next stage of his career".

I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager, and outside of my sabbatical last year, I have been going non-stop. I literally grew up in this business, as Mike likes to say. And now that I’m grown up, it’s time for a much needed break.

It wasn't mentioned to what the "next stage of his career" would be.  His work on the Gears of War series, and Unreal really made an impact in the gaming community.

I will miss the projects, the playtests, the debates, and most importantly, the people. Epic only hires the best of the best, and it has been a joy working with each and every one of you on a daily basis, whether you were hired weeks ago or decades ago. I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with a variety of disciplines, from code to art to marketing and PR – it’s been one big, rewarding learning experience. I’m confident that each project that is being built, whether at Epic, Chair, PCF, or Impossible will be top notch and will please gamers and critics alike.

People come and go, that's just how it is. I wish the guy the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Terraria for consoles gets a teaser trailer

Terraria Terraria, the Minecraft-like 2D side-scroller is finally hitting consoles. A teaser trailer for the console was just released by 505 Games and is scheduled for an early 2013 release. Check out the trailer below.

I personally loved this game. back in 2011, during Steam's Holiday Sale, I managed to pick this game up on a discount and I'm happy that I did. It literally got me hooked for hours when I first fired it up the game. You literally start with nothing and must build everything from the materials around you. It's very familiar to Minecraft, but the side-scrolling style gives it a nice old school twist. Plus, the bosses are a real challenge.

At the end of the trailer, the mentioned new content for the console version. Great addition, but I really hope 505 Games doesn't leave the PC community in the dark. There is still no word if the added content will hit PC. If it never does, well that's just plain sad. They sold 1.6 copies because of the PC community, so I really wish they provide the same amount of content for both versions so that one version is not inferior to the other.

Terraria will be out hopefully by early next year on PSN and Xbox Live.

Resident Evil 6 reviews are now hitting the net, reviews mixed so far

Resident Evil 6 comes out tomorrow and just like clockwork, reviews of the game start showing up all at once. Here's a compilation of most of the reviews out now in the net to help give you an idea on what you're getting into.

Resident Evil 6 review list:

G4TV - 2.5/5

Gamespot (Video review) - 4.5/10

Eurogamer - 6/10

Gametrailers - 8.8/10

Joystiq - 2.5/5

GameInformer - 8.75/10

IGN - 7.9/10

CVG - 8/10

Destructoid - 3/10

1UP - C+

PSU - 8.5/10

GamesRadar - 3.5/5

Reading the reviews so far confirms my fears on Resident Evil 6. When I first saw the first look of gameplay, I was completely turned off by how it looked more like a third-person action game. I then got back into the hype though when they mentioned multiple campaigns, and the announced Agent Hunt mode (similar to L4D versus mode ). But when I tried the public demo, I got turned off yet again thanks to the horrible camera angle and controls.

I'm not all that surprised with the reviews. Why can't Capcom just give us a survival-horror Resident Evil title? Why evolve the series to the point that it's unrecognizable anymore?

I'll still give this game a chance though, playing the game with a friend should be entertaining enough. You never know, it might turn out to be a great game to me, but I've been wrong before.

If you know any more reviews that need to be on the list, feel free to hit the comments.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories launch trailer

Konami released a launch trailer for Silent Hill: Book of Memories. Book of Memories is considered a spin-off, so don't expect the usual Silent Hill survival horror. It's a PS Vita exclusive and this is the first ever Silent Hill game that has a co-op feature, that and a camera angle that I do not like one bit. Have a look at the trailer below.

This is not a Silent Hill game at all. So fans of the series will be very disappointed. The best way to look at this game is to completely forget that it's a Silent Hill game.If yo're looking for a new co-op game to play with friends, this might fly, but at first glance, it seems rough around the edges.

Oh and just in case you missed the E3 trailer...

Silent Hill: Book of Memories comes out on October 16 exclusively for the PS Vita.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is done revealing playable characters

PS All Stars Battle Royale If you're still hoping for that small chance that your favorite Playstation character will join Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, well it's not going to happen. Well, for launch at least. It was revealed that Sony has revealed all playable characters on launch. The game will be released with 20 characters. Disappointing, I know.

PlayStation social media manager Sid Shuman tweeted it confirming that they have revealed the full launch lineup for the game.

There's still the possibility of characters coming in via downloadable content, so there's still hope for characters such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and many more characters that would be a perfect addition. I'm actually scratching my head right now to the fact that Cole Mcgrath's good and bad side are taking two spaces of the 20 character roster.

PS All-Stars Battle Royale gameplay - Nariko, Sir Daniel, Raiden, Evil Cole

Here's the confirmed launch lineup:

1. Big Daddy 2. Cole MacGrath 3. Evil Cole MacGrath 4. Colonel Radec 5. Dante 6. Fat Princess 7. Heihachi Mishima 8. Jak and Daxter 9. Kratos 10. Nariko 11. Nathan Drake 12. PaRappa the Rapper 13. Raiden 14. Ratchet and Clank 15. Sackboy 16. Sir Daniel Fortesque 17. Sly Cooper 18. Spike 19. Sweet Tooth 20. Toro

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale comes out on November 20 for Playstation 3 and PS Vita. Getting yourself a copy of the game grants you a free copy of the Vita version.
