Microsoft’s Inside Xbox had a special treat to deliver at Gamescom this week: brand new gameplay footage of Devil May Cry 5 and confirmation of a release date: March 8, 2019.
Featuring protagonist Nero kicking asses, tearing faces and cracking wise, the new footage showcases some impressive stuff. That includes some incredibly destructible environments, massive boss fights, freezing time and Nero using his own robot arm as a rocket board because why not.
Nero’s ally, Nico – the lady driving their van – is responsible for Nero’s robot arms, which Capcom says are ‘Devil Breakers.’ There are eight standard Devil Breakers, including the Overture, which electro-shocks foes and the Gerbera, which can generate heatwaves. One Breakers also seems to let Nero snatch enemies with some kind of tether rope.
I’m also digging the so terrible it’s so awesome music that I’ve proceeded to add it to my Spotify playlists. Also, old man Dante shows up on a motorbike that transforms into a pair of chainsaw swords, cause you know, this trailer is so Devil May Cry.
Again, Devil May Cry 5 arrives on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 on March 8, 2019. Director Hideaki Itsuno said that he hopes Devil May Cry 5 will make players get emotional and cry, like devils may.
